| New Dead Rising 2 Trailer Shows Off a Sea of Zombies May 30, 2009 at 8:18 pm |
| That's a whole lot of zombies you got there, 7,000 to be precise. Too bad it won't be shown at E3 this year. Necrovision is not a game that you should judge based solely on its first few hours of play. The early action can be great fun, but some clunky technical issues and frustrating missions don't show this supernatural first-person shooter at its best. EA has given the Wii installment of their survival horror franchise a release date, with Dead Space Extraction scheduled to hit a little under a year after the original game. Killing Floor is a cooperative survival shooter that pits you and up to five other players against wave after wave of genetically modified, humanoid "specimens" that have escaped the laboratory and are rapidly overrunning England. Lead a squad of Jedi Knights (or Clone Troopers!) as you tear through Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Republic Heroes and discover the mysteries lying between seasons 1 and 2 of the hit TV series.

| Ubisoft seems to have developed two new areas of expertise over the past few months -- accidentally leaking videos to the gaming press, and developing 10 to 15 second teasers for their highly anticipated titles. Today, we get an excellent example of both of these new habits in action -- the massive French publisher recently leaked two 10 second clips from Assassin's Creed II and Splinter Cell Conviction onto their FTP site. The publisher has restricted foreign travel for their employees, including Dead Rising producer Keiji Inafune.

| Phantom Brave pushed out to August for Japanese voices May 30, 2009 at 12:18 pm |
| Brace yourselves. The upcoming port of Phantom Brave won't possess Wii consoles in June as expected. Now, assuming you survived that Prinny Bomb, NIS America says in its press release (PDF link) that the delay will allow the niche publisher to put the oft-requested Japanese voice-over track back into the game. Square Enix's E3 lineup features two surprises, in addition to the expected Final Fantasy stuff: Front Mission Evolved and NIER. While we may have suspected that some kind of Front Mission game was coming... Publisher XSEED has announced its Wii, DS and PSP heavy E3 2009 lineup, taking the opportunity to announce that its bringing Lunar: Silver Star Harmony and Half-Minute Hero to North American PSPs. Famed mashup DJ Z-Trip will perform sets at E3 next week to help unveil DJ Hero. DJ Hero will also feature DJ Z-Trip as an in-game avatar, according to the artist's press release. We assumed DJ Hero's musical offerings would be impressive (considering the source of the mash-ups therein), but a recent Activision press release just gave us an idea...

| No more confusion: Atari drops Infogrames name May 30, 2009 at 11:32 am |
| Despite Infogrames standing for entertainment that rocks our world, the armadillo branding is gone and now only Atari remains. CEO Jim Wilson tells 1UP that the company is now officially doing away with the Infogrames branding to put focus on the more "popular target brand" of Atari. Well, hopefully the name change helps. Currently the company "moved" its president, shut down European operations, shifted publishing rights for a major title and couldn't afford won't make it to E3. We're sure there's more, but let's try to stay optimistic with the name change. For what's in a name? Manos arriba, who loves robots? We sure did this week. Other highlights included the return (of sorts) of Atari, and Hideo Kojima giving us all lessons in redacting sensitive documents. | Alienware reveals new global marketing efforts, a gaming rig during teleconference May 30, 2009 at 11:02 am |
| When it comes toPC gaming hardware systems, Alienware is one of those brand names that trulystands out. The company was founded back in 1996 by Nelson Gonzalez and AlexAguila. The duo simply could not find the computer systems they wanted so theymade their own. It was not long before they were making systems for family andfriends, and decided to launch the company. This is Alienware's new m17x gaming laptop. To give you an idea of what's going to be inside it, you should know that it weighs 12 pounds, and costs an absolute minimum $1800. The signs are so clear that Apple wants a bigger slice of the gaming pie, you probably don't need us offering our own cockamamie theories (iPhun!). But maybe Yves Guillemot will be enough to convince you. Okay, so DS hasn't really bested Paul Hogan's popularity -- as the man is an Australian legend -- but it is the fastest-selling piece of gaming hardware ever down under. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot predicted today not just a coming generation of consoles and a gaming revolution in set-top boxes, but a bigger gaming play by Apple than just the iPhone.
