| Professor Layton And the Diabolical Box Coming Stateside? May 22, 2009 at 7:30 pm |
| Thanks, Lisa Kudrow. You're selfless shilling of Nintendo's DS puzzler Professor Layton and the Curious Village may have guaranteed the American appearance of the sequel. Amazon.com is listing the second game for an August release. The online retailer is showing Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box as arriving on these shores on August 24th... Dead Space Extraction has a lot to live up to and a lot of preconceived notions to overcome, not just as a prequel to GameSpot's Best of 2008 award winner for Best Atmosphere and Best Sound Design, but also as an on-rails shooter. The first episodic Watchmen game was awful. Which is probably why we've heard little of the second. Still, the game's publishers are soldiering on, and will be releasing the pair on a retail disc. In less than two weeks, the Electronic Entertainment Expo will shirk off two years of stripped down shows with an event expected to draw roughly 40,000 attendees. The shindig is being put on by the Entertainment Software Association...

| Dog About To Bite Man May 22, 2009 at 7:00 pm |
| To: Owen I've been having a lot of fun messing around with Personal Trainer: Walking for the DS this week. None of the playing has really involved gameplay, but that's OK. The game lets you track your dog's walking habits too, so today I tracked down Tristan's puppy, LittleFoot, and slapped one of the pedometers to his collar. He looked so pathetic staring at me with those big puppy eyes, but he got used to it pretty quickly. Now it's like he's being tracked by National Geographic. To go along with the new trailer, EA and DICE also released this morning some new screens for the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Battlefield Bad Company 2 doesn't reinvent anything, but it doesn't really need to either.Earlier this month I had a chance to sit in on an 12-on-12 multiplayer match of the game in the spacious and snowpacked Snowbound level. Personal Trainer: Walking is a DS title that comes packed with two digital pedometers that sync with your DS to track how far you walk each day. It also happens to include the ability to create Mii on your DS. Go to the Mii Channel. Press A. Press B. Press 1. Press and hold 2. | PlayStation 3 | The Agency Updated Impressions May 22, 2009 at 6:52 pm |
| It's safe to assume that James Bond isn't a big massively multiplayer online game player. Sure, he has probably dabbled with World of Warcraft on one of those long flights from England to Russia, but we doubt orcs and paladins are really his thing. As you may have seen in my review of Final Fantasy XI's recent download-only 'add-on A Crystalline Prophecy I didn't give the time-wasting, $10 fetch-quest ($10 on top of the normal monthly fees... This week's Japanese hardware contest wasn't a proud one, with total hardware unit sales just barely cracking the 100,000 mark. Not good. But it was a winning week for the Nintendo DSi and Wii. | Meet The Players Unhappy With The New TF2 Update May 22, 2009 at 6:30 pm |
| After a week's worth of largely entertaining Team Fortress 2 "Spy Vs. Sniper" updates, Valve has officially released new content for two of the game's classes. But things aren't exactly going as planned. As with most TF2 class updates, general whining ensues about how everything is ruined, how the developers have phoned the update in, and just how unfair the game has become. But with the latest change in how players unlock new items and weapons, an attempt by Valve to limit Achievement gorging to be "First!!!1" to get weapon X or sandwich Y, things are taking a turn for the unbalanced. Damnation hits store shelves tomorrow everywhere but North America, and to celebrate Codemasters has released a new multiplayer trailer to show us Americans what we'll be missing. Valve has revealed the final weapon unlock, for the Sniper vs Spy update coming to Team Fortress 2. Using the ancient art of "Jarate," the jar of urine that the Sniper keeps while he stakes out a position can be thrown like a grenade. Thanks to the doubly good update for the Spy and Sniper classes, Team Fortress 2 will be playable for free this weekend to Steam users who for some bizarre reason wouldn't already have the game. Bad news, Team Fortress 2 Spy: your Summer is about to get wet and wild, as Valve has revealed the Sniper's final unlockable. And this time it's no joke. "Jarate" is a reality.

| Nintendo Will Release New Hardware When They Have A "Very Interesting Idea" May 22, 2009 at 6:06 pm |

| Battlefield Bad Company 2 Multiplayer Impressions May 22, 2009 at 12:20 pm |
| Battlefield Bad Company 2 doesn't reinvent anything, but it doesn't really need to either.Earlier this month I had a chance to sit in on an 12-on-12 multiplayer match of the game in the spacious and snowpacked Snowbound level. The game's essentially a sleeker, more nuanced version of the original Battlefield Bad Company. You can still blow buildings and scenery apart. You can still hop into different positions of a vehicle, from tanks to armored personnel carriers. And the controls are as tight as ever. Dead Space Extraction has a lot to live up to and a lot of preconceived notions to overcome, not just as a prequel to GameSpot's Best of 2008 award winner for Best Atmosphere and Best Sound Design, but also as an on-rails shooter. Hi-Rez Studios is heading to E3 2009, yanking their action-oriented massively multiplayer game Global Agenda away from alpha testers long enough to give the convention going public a little taste. Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood builds upon the multiplayer mode from the original Call of Juarez by adding a lot more character classes. The new classes are trapper, gunsmith, spy, officer, duelist, veteran, scout, native and hombre. World War II was an epic conflict, and developer Wargaming.net has partnered with Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix in the hopes that its real-time strategy game Order of War will be a comparably epic game.
