Former Midway Bosses, Board Members Sued For

And continues! This week, stay tuned as former majority shareholder Sumner Redstone and several former board members are sued for "corporate waste and unjust enrichment".

The suit has been filed by Midway's creditors, who cite "a series of disastrous and ill-advised financial transactions that largely occurred during 2008" as inspiration. According to the creditor's allegations, a number of dealings surrounding the company's sale to Mark Thomas last year were engineered by Redstone and Thomas "to the detriment of Midway".

Gorgeous Grapple Buggy Looks Like Bionic Car-mando

Meet Grapple Buggy, an upcoming Xbox Live Community Games title that reaches deep within the psyche to reference fondly remembered games like Bionic Commando and Blaster Master, with a little Contra-esque alien design.

Boutique developer Mommy's Best Games—also responsible for the award-winning Community Games title Weapon of Choice—describes Grapple Buggy's gameplay as a "sumptuous blend of buggy-driving craziness and grapple swinging glee," which sounds almost as appealing as battling "terrifying xeno-fauna." But the game's debut trailer, showing off Grapple Buggy in motion, says more than any press release could hope to.

Kobayashi Maru Teaches You To Cheat

Achievement.

Chris Plane over at "also confirm a Red Shirt Achievement awarded to the first to die in a multiplayer game." Since the entire game is multiplayer, I'm pretty sure I'll unlock Red Shirt before I figure out the magic button combo to unlock Kobayashi Maru.

The game is a top-down space shooter where players can choose from three classes of ship to engage in several fierce multiplayer match modes. This mystery cheat code that unlocks Kobayashi Maru will supposedly improve your ship's offenses and defenses; which is ironic because the "point" of the Kobayashi Maru test in Star Trek lore is to teach pilots fear when faced with a no-win situation. Captain Kirk cheats and reprograms the test so that it is possible to win.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater Ports Skating To iPhone?

has appeared on YouTube.

The video, by way of Giant Bomb, looks convincing enough to be the real deal. It also looks rather capable at bringing the nine-year-old sequel to the tilting, touchscreen iPhone platform, with on-screen and accelerometer controls. Graphically, it looks a hell of a lot like the Dreamcast version, the port in which I invested many dozens of hours.

Re: I Think I'm Afraid of Heights

I'm dong to about a half dozen developers and or publishers who I need to book still. I'm kinda surprised I was able to book our full E3 schedule in essentially two days. It's tight, but not insane, sort of like every year.

With such a small group of reporters we have to essentially parachute into the event and start laying down the reportage and writeupatude. Hopefully everyone will be ready.

Atari Ditches Plans to Attend E3

This year's E3 kicks off in three weeks; a fact that might lead you to believe that things like the companies attending have been, you know, confirmed. So imagine the surprise today when it was revealed that Atari had backed out of their plans to be at the big event. A statement from Atari (via Big Download Blog) reads, "Atari has made the proactive decision to attend but not exhibit at this year's E3 event. Although we feel E3 benefits the entire games business, we are very focused around other selling and marketing initiatives for our upcoming Ghostbusters, Champions Online and other to be announced titles."Atari is refusing to explain the reasoning behind this sudden decision, but, according to Joystiq, a more detailed answer will soon be forthcoming. Hopefully that will provide us with some indication as to why Atari would make such an abrupt announcement.

White Knight Chronicles Given English Movie Trailer Treatment

This trailer for the North American version of is as close to a blockbuster movie trailer as you can get without resurrecting Don LaFontaine.Since the Don "The Movie Voice Guy" LaFontaine passed on last year, Sony had to go with "In the land..." instead of "In a world...", but this White Knight Chronicles trailer still manages to give off a truly epic vibe. There's action, adventure, potential romance...they even threw in a dramatic eye flash at the end to seal the deal. I'd definitely pay $10 to see this in a theater. I'm just not sure if I'd spend $60 to play it yet.

Velvet Assassin Review: Lie Back And Think Of England

Velvet Assassin is a stealth action game that's loosely based on the real-life World War II Allied secret agent, Violette Szabo, who was captured and later executed by the Nazis.

That's not a spoiler, though, because the game has only two things in common with Szabo's life: the setting and the first name of the main character, Violette Summers. Beyond that, the game swaps out "secret agent" for "assassin," and revolves entirely around Summers taking out various fictitious versions of real-life people – something that likely never would have happened in real life because the Feminist movement didn't kick in 'til the 60s.

GameStop Teeming With Overlord Minion Figures

GameStop is being overrun by multi-colored Overlord minions, so the retailer is giving them away to folks who pre-order any of the three Overlord titles due out next month.

Fans that put $5 down on for the Nintendo Wii from GameStop will find themselves the proud owner of a tiny minion figurine. There are four different colors available, and only (only?) three titles to pre-order, so unless you double up on a title or known a GameStop manager, your chances of getting all four are relatively slim.

Possible Kojima Productions Reveal in Three Days?

Curious what the folks at Kojima Productions have been up to since they shipped Metal Gear Solid 4 nearly a year ago? Of course you are. That's why we're pretty sure you'll be just as perplexed and intrigued as we were when you see the cryptic email we received from a source within Konami early this morning.Bearing the subject line "T -3 days" and containing only a link (http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next) pointing to a currently barren section of Konami's Japanese website, the email message appears to be a dead end -- for now. You'd better believe we'll be checking back regularly over the next few days to see if anything actually comes of this tease, though.

Hasbro Family Game Night 2: Game Harder

EA is delivering a second round of Hasbro board and puzzle game goodness to the Nintendo Wii this fall with Hasbro Family Game Night 2.

Building on the success of their first game night outing, Hasbro and EA are bringing five new old games to the Wii in Family Game Night 2. Headlining or perhaps flatlining the compilation, depending on how you play, is the classic board game Operation, which teaches children it's perfectly fine to remove a man's organs as long as his nose doesn't glow red. The rest of the titles are comparatively new, with Bop-It, Pictureka, Connect 4X4 (ouch) and Jenga, which makes this the second Jenga game available for the Wii.

EA has dropped a new trailer, new screens, and new information on the Spore universe's expansion onto Nintendo systems, .Rather than allow us to play music on a plastic facsimile of a Spore creature as I had hoped, both Spore Hero for the Nintendo Wii and Spore Hero Arena for the DS focus on the creature stage of Spore, allowing players to create their own creature, collect new parts, and take them on a fantastic adventure that spans many different worlds. On the Wii, Spore Hero is an action adventure title with combat and puzzle elements. On the DS, Spore Hero Arena is also an adventure game with a strong emphasis on gladiatorial combat.

inFamous Good and Evil Choices Not Binary

Morality systems are all the rage in modern gaming, and inFamous will let players make good and evil choices with the best of them. While these types of options are usually criticized for being too stark, Sucker Punch co-founder Bruce Oberg insists that it won't be "just a binary choice." In a video on the PlayStation.Blog (via VG247), Oberg said, "you don't have to be good and evil the whole game. You can go back and forth between it. And depending on whether you're good or evil at any particular time, you can actually choose to upgrade your powers in different ways."As an example, Oberg said that "depending on where you are in the game, you may want to actually play a mission with certain sets [of powers], and it may actually make sense for you to maybe become more evil to play a particular mission.

Halo Wars is set to release a patch in the next few days to prepare for the release of the upcoming "Strategic Options" downloadable content. The patch notes outline the tweaks we'll see hitting the game soon. Aside from fixing some bugs, the patch allows players to use Flaming Warthog and Honor Guard Wraith skins in multiplayer, and the option to show Unit Hit Point bars above the units. Several balancing issues are addressed as well, such as capping the number of points per match and reducing speed for the Prophet of Regret. Anders Cryo Bomb and Anders Hawk upgrades both cost 50% more, and Vampire Tech Upgrades increase damage more than they used to.

Step ladders are scary!

inFamous, Ratchet & Clank Get PS3 Bundles

A Spanish website has thrown up pictures of what look like two new PS3 bundles, one for inFamous, one for Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty.

Both would be European offers, due to retail for €399, with the R&C bundle packing an extra controller to compensate for the game's budget price.

As predictable and plausible as these look (especially the inFamous one, with it being one of Sony's biggest first-party games of the year), they're as of now unconfirmed by Sony, so bear that in mind.
