It's scary when a new disease pops up and there's no real vaccine available, but people need to take a deep breath. Granted, I was a little panicky this morning when Tristan hit his third day of stomach problems and a fever. He went to the doc who said he was fine, but if he wasn't over it by tomorrow to check by. So no swine flu here... I think.  Apparently, the undead are still susceptible to influenza. Kotaku reports that Capcom has decided not to show Dead Rising 2 at E3 in June, due to international travel precautions over the swine flu outbreak in Osaka, Japan.  Much anticipated Capcom title Dead Rising 2 will now not be shown at this year's E3 thanks to a Swine Flu outbreak in Osaka, Japan, Capcom told Kotaku. "Our Capcom guys are not coming to E3 because of the Japanese government restrictions...  The second batch of downloadable content for Killzone 2 is due out next month, bringing two maps from the first Killzone to the PlayStation 3. The Flash and Thunder Pack contains two classic Killzone maps remade from the ground up for Killzone 2. Though the brand new retail Bionic Commando game arrives in North America and Europe this week, developer GRIN used its keynote address at the Nordic Game Conference in Malmö...  That enigmatic blonde girl from Brighton sets her eyes on the states, with independent music and party game developer Zoë Mode launches a San Francisco studio next month.  Peggle is conquering gaming one platform at a time. First it was PC, next Nintendo DS, then Xbox Live Arcade before doubling back to PC via World of Warcraft. Now it's on the iPhone, and there's goes all your free time.

|  It appears that LucasArts has more droid-slaying, lightsaber-swinging action planned in the Star Wars Battlefront fashion, as the ESRB has rated Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron for the PSP and Nintendo DS. The two titles both appear to be third-person perspective action games highlighting battles from the Star Wars universe, shrunk down to fit on the competing platforms' LCD screens. Perhaps these two games the younger siblings of Free Radical's aborted Star Wars Battlefront III, which, concept art and leaked trailers aside, appears to be no more than a bluish apparition of a game.  Looks like Sony is serious about adding new "PSone Classics" to the PlayStation Store, as a few original PlayStation heavy hitters appear to be en route. The ESRB has rated five new PSone Classics candidates.  Riding the warp trail of the smash hit J.J. Abrams movie comes Star Trek D-A-C, a top-down space shooter for Xbox Live Arcade. Lacking the time to create a full-fledged movie tie-in for the new Star Trek film...  Battle damage brawler Ikki Tousen: Shining Dragon is known just for that: battle damage. And since it's girls in sailor suits and maid outfits, damage comes in the form of shredded clothing.

|  Budding level designer Matt Bradley is off to a good start with "DM-Spectrum," a deathmatch map for Unreal Tournament 3 that's unlike anything we've seen for the gib-laden shoot 'em up. DM-Spectrum, writes Bradley, is designed on a concept that forces UT3 players to use the game's spectrum of lighting to navigate and kill opponents. Disco floor lighting highlights a player's current position, with seven cubes of lighting giving other players a global peek at where opponents are on the map. What good is E3 hype if none of it comes true? To get you ready for this E3, we've subjected ourselves to re-living the major press conferences of last year's big show. We've pulled all of the predictions, promises and other verbal constructions Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony used to get you excited about their console.  While numerous developers have undergone layoffs and even shut down entirely in the rough economy, UK-based Zoe Mode is branching out. |  Things heat up on PlayStation Home this Thursday, as the long-promised Resistance home space finally appears in a hail of turret-fire. The ruined cityscapes of Resistance comes to life tomorrow, when it will be filled with countless lifeless avatars running about, eager to win Resistance-themed prizes via the "Four Barrels of Fury" mini-game. The game lets you take control of a turret, blasting Chimeran ships out of the sky for a position on the global leaderboards and a chance at fabulous prizes. |  The list of excuses for not having played Number None's Braid gets shorter today with the release of the Mac OS X version of the time-shifting puzzle platformer. The newest version of Braid is priced the same as its Xbox Live Arcade and PC counterparts ($14.95 USD) and is just as native to the Mac platform as previous releases. The port was handled by Hothead Games, the same folks responsible for Penny Arcade Adventures. For anyone who hasn't yet heard of the award-winning game, read our review of the XBLA version to see if it sounds like something you'd be into. Riding the warp trail of the smash hit J.J. |  When word first got out on Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain, many assumed it would be a sequel to their adventure game Indigo Prophecy. That theory didn't pan out, with the developers opting for a new universe for their second stab at the interactive drama genre.But as it turns out, Quantic co-CEO David Cage was at one point considering a second dip in Indigo's pool before settling in on plans for Heavy Rain. I asked him about this in an interview posted today on the site, and he explained that he considered a proper sequel, but came to the conclusion that he was done with that set of characters. | Chalk this one up as curious: we've seen a DS Lego strategy game from the people who brought Supreme Commander to the Xbox 360. Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment was in New York City yesterday to show off a bunch of games, including Scribblenauts, which I knew to ask for, Mini Ninjas, which is embargoed, some other stuff and, oh yes, another Lego game. Ensemble Studios may not be around anymore, but its swan song lives on this week with the first batch of downloadable content for the Xbox 360-exclusive Halo Wars. The Strategic Options add-on pack includes three new game modes--Keepaway...  Stardock CEO Brad Wardell exhaustively details the whys and hows behind Demigod's crippling networking issues in a blog post aptly titled "Demigod: So what the hell happened?" The... This batch of new screens shows off SouthPeak and Evolved's upcoming tactical action game, Raven Squad. Raven Squad hopes to blend the first-person shooter experience...  On the heels of last week's patch, the Halo Wars Strategic Options pack is now online. |  Does Resonance of Fate, the newest RPG to come from the JRPG mavens at tri-Ace, have a fancy-pants battle system with an ostentatious name? Of course it does! It's a tri-Ace game! In fact, the PS3/360 title isn't even due out in Japan until this winter, but this week's Famitsu has already laid bare Resonance's battles -- a little something that tri-Ace calls the "tri-Attack-Battle" system...  The most noteworthy reviews from this week's issue of Famitsu magazine:- Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (9/9/9/9, 36 points): "From the story to the game system to the graphics and amount of volume, there isn't a single weakness," as one reviewer put it. High Voltage chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger explains why The Conduit won't suffer the same poor sales as Sega's other core Wii titles, MadWorld and The House of the Dead: Overkill.  Sega of America is bringing the tri-Ace-developed role-playing game End of Eternity stateside, renaming it Resonance of Fate for some reason. And it's also apparently jamming in some butt rock.  It's just been announced that upcoming JRPG End of Eternity - due in Japan at the end of the year - will be getting a Western release, courtesy of Sega. It'll be out in the spring of 2010.

The Flash and Thunder Pack contains two classic Killzone maps remade from the ground up for Killzone 2. The Beach Head map sees the ISA defending a coastal stronghold against a Helghast landing force, while the Southern Hills map reverses fortunes, with the ISA storming a Helghast compound on top of a hill, assumedly somewhere in the south... | Last summer's indie darling Braid already stunned audiences on the Xbox 360 and PC, but what about those of us who spend most of our time in OS X rather than Windows? Thanks to a partnership with Penny Arcade Adventures developer Hothead Games, Mac users can now head over to Greenhouse to download Jonathan Blow's time-shifting platformer for $14.95.Yeah, it's been almost a year since Braid first showed up, but it's better late than never. Good luck finding anyone who's still willing to debate the game's ending at this point, though. Terminator Salvation is now available on the PC, but for many, it's not quite playable. Over at the official forums, multiple reports have emerged of installation errors, with many unable to resolve the problem.  Wii owners will be getting Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis via the forthcoming Staff of Kings, but Xbox 360 owners may soon getting a classic LucasArts adventure of their own.  Both a mysteriously disappearing German rating and sources close to Adventure Gamers seem to indicate that a special edition of The Secret of Monkey Island is on its way to the Xbox 360.

| Much anticipated Capcom title Dead Rising 2 will now not be shown at this year's E3 thanks to a Swine Flu outbreak in Osaka, Japan, Capcom told Kotaku. "Our Capcom guys are not coming to E3 because of the Japanese government restrictions," said Capcom's Chris Kramer, Senior Director, Communications and Community. "The company is taking the advisory very seriously." Ever since the Super NES, the company's had to deal with Asian-made copiers and ROMs being made available for free if you can find the right source; according to Nintendo's research, nearly 120 million illegal copies of its software have been downloaded by the end of 2007... | The Wii isn't a fad. It's here to stay. We know it, you know it, and some dude at Electronic Arts knows it. The game giant is waking up and ready to take risks. Electronic Arts senior producer Joe Booth spends his days overseeing Wii and DS exclusive Need for Speed: Nitro. About the Wii, he says, "I can't speak for the rest of the industry or all of EA but I can speak for my group when I say I think we've turned a corner and the industry has woken up to Wii in the right way... We're seeing a lot of new energy on the platform."  Bethesda is best known for designing games for PCs and high-end consoles, but a new interview from GamesIndustry.biz reveals they have plans for Nintendo's Wii as well. |  More platform exclusivity shenanigans! It's just been announced that Tony Hawk: Ride - yes, the new one with the wacky controller - will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 in the UK. No idea how much this has cost Microsoft, or whether it's a proper exclusive (as opposed to a timed exclusive), but we do know at this stage that the deal only applies to the UK, so everyone outside the Sceptred Isle can breathe easy.  Just over a year ago at E3 2008, Microsoft announced it had secured Xbox 360/PC exclusivity for Fallout 3 downloadable content. Now, three releases down the line, that agreement has come to an end... Microsoft appears to be hemorrhaging information in the lead-up to the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, which is on track to tear into Los Angeles from June 1-4. Last week... The past several weeks have seen the downloadable expansions for Grand Theft Auto IV at the center of several rumors. First came a report that the Lost and Damned would...  The battle for Japanese hardware supremacy has been in a bit of flux for the past few months, with the once dominant Wii giving ground to the PlayStation 3. Not anymore.

According to independent market research group GfK Retail and Technology Australia, the game has sold over 520,000 copies in its one year on sale. The only Wii game that has sold more is Wii Play at 569,000 copies. Mario Kart Wii has sold 328,000. | Hudson's Karaoke Game Is A Hit

|  Best known for its Bomberman games, Hudson has another hit franchise on its hands: Karaoke JOYSOUND Wii. Lock up your daughters, because the Japan-only title brings karaoke singing to the Wii. Since going on sale last December, the game has sold 250,000 copies to date. The title is a tie-up between the Wii and Japanese karaoke provider JOYSOUND.  When cutesy monster series Pokémon was being prepped for the Western market, localizers told Nintendo this: No way will adorable monsters be accepted by Americans. After a whopping fifteen year hiatus, it would appear that the fan-favorite Punch-Out!! series had hung up its gloves for good. Nightly bouts with King Hippo were replaced with imitators such as Black & Bruised to Facebreaker...  The next Tony Hawk game, titled Tony Hawk Ride, will use a motion-sensing skateboard peripheral. The rumor has been almost confirmed over and over again, so it's not surprising, but now we've gotten our first look at the device.

|  Once was a day parents had to do their jobs, and manually enforce the amount of time a kid spent playing on a console. Now, all they need is the GameDr. This awful thing attaches around the outside of the your console's power plug, and claims to be tamper proof. It can be programmed to set a countdown timer, and once that countdown is up, it cuts the power. Bethesda is best known for designing games for PCs and high-end consoles, but a new interview from GamesIndustry.biz reveals they have plans for Nintendo's Wii as well.  Those hoping that Konami and Kojima Productions would today reveal Metal Gear Solid 5, a Metal Gear Solid 4 for the Xbox 360, or even Metal Gear Solid Touch 2 for the iPhone are in for a bit of a disappointment.  Launching back on the NES overtwenty years ago, the original Bionic Commando was one of those titles thatstays fresh in the minds of gamers, and harking back to the best period of NESdevelopment, if not gaming on the whole.
