| Bethesda: Whoa, Uh, We Said Nothing About Bill Clinton May 23, 2009 at 6:00 pm |
| Word that President Clinton was sort-of asked to be the voice of Fallout 3's President Eden arched eyebrows and dropped jaws. But Bethesda's top spokesman put the kibosh on that ever being a serious idea.
A damned newsy week deserves a huge roundup: Capcom chickened out over pigs, and Fallout 3's DLC is at last coming to PS3. If nothing else, it neuters some clichéd flamebait from Fallout 3 comments. If you're looking for a big name to voice the president in Fallout 3, who would better to get than, well, a former U.S. President. Lev Chapelsky of the Hollywood firm Blindsight tried just that. When trying to cast the President of the United States, who's better suited for the role than the pres himself? That was Hollywood-based talent acquisition agency Blindlight's thinking...

| Fuel Delayed a Week, Honored by Guinness World Records May 23, 2009 at 5:10 pm |
| According to VG247, the console versions of Codemaster's upcoming post-apocalyptic racing game Fuel has been delayed one week, with its release moved from May 26 to June 5.VG247 is, however, a U.K. site, so there's no confirmation yet whether the delay applies to North America as well, although it seems likely (GameStop has the game listed for June 2). We'll update when official confirmation comes in. FUEL, originally scheduled to drop May 26, has been delayed to June 5, VG247 has reported. They say Codemasters confirmed it to them. Maybe this explains why I haven't gotten my review copy yet. The 2009 holiday season might be a bit more jam-packed than you may have already expected, according to GameStop CFO David W. Carlson (via Eurogamer). During the brick-and-mortar gaming retailer's Q1 earnings call... With 5, 560 square miles of accessible in-game terrain, Codemasters' Fuel is the biggest console game of all time, and they've got the Guinness World Records certificate to prove it.

| Resident Evil: Director's Cut Coming to PSN May 28 May 23, 2009 at 4:30 pm |
| For those who recently blazed through hordes of zombies in Resident Evil 5's Africa, but may have been too young to see how it all began back in 1996, here's your chance. Capcom has announced that Resident Evil: Director's Cut will be released on the PlayStation 3 through the PlayStation Network on Thursday, May 28, for $9... A damned newsy week deserves a huge roundup: Capcom chickened out over pigs, and Fallout 3's DLC is at last coming to PS3. If nothing else, it neuters some clichéd flamebait from Fallout 3 comments. Or, he does in this new figure from Hong Kong artisans Hot Toys, the third in their Resident Evil 5 series that so far also features our heroes Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar. It's safe to assume that James Bond isn't a big massively multiplayer online game player. Sure, he has probably dabbled with World of Warcraft on one of those long flights from England to Russia, but we doubt orcs and paladins are really his thing. This week's Japanese hardware contest wasn't a proud one, with total hardware unit sales just barely cracking the 100,000 mark. Not good. But it was a winning week for the Nintendo DSi and Wii.

| FUEL, originally scheduled to drop May 26, has been delayed to June 5, VG247 has reported. They say Codemasters confirmed it to them. Maybe this explains why I haven't gotten my review copy yet. Of course, Joystiq points out that VG247 is a UK site, so it's not clear if the delay covers Europe only or if North America is included. Gamestop's showing the drop date as June 2. According to VG247, the console versions of Codemaster's upcoming post-apocalyptic racing game Fuel has been delayed one week, with its release moved from May 26 to June 5. The 2009 holiday season might be a bit more jam-packed than you may have already expected, according to GameStop CFO David W. Carlson (via Eurogamer). During the brick-and-mortar gaming retailer's Q1 earnings call... Japan's fiscal year reporting season draws to a close, and one of the last companies to report their data was Square Enix. Contained within that data was a colourful graph showing their 2008 game sales. Damnation hits store shelves tomorrow everywhere but North America, and to celebrate Codemasters has released a new multiplayer trailer to show us Americans what we'll be missing.

| iPhone Becomes An 8-Bit Synthesiser May 23, 2009 at 12:30 am |
| So iPhone games have, to date, been largely disappointing. Let's forget iPhone games for a minute, then, at look at an iPhone synth that lets you create your own 8-bit soundtracks. This is 8bitone, by Japanese devs Yudo, and it lets you arrange your own chiptune soundtracks on the fly. It's not a professional solution, of course, but hey, it's a program for your phone. And for that, it looks pretty good. Tecmo's Fatal Frame for the Wii may be out of the picture, but horror-loving North American Nintendo fans have another title to look forward to. Xseed Games today announced... A game built entirely from the ground up, Overlord Dark Legend follows another evildoer from the long bloodline of overlords, but this story is set sometime before the events of the original game. Surprise! The rumors that all three Metroid Prime games would receive a compilation release in the US with the "Wii-applied" control scheme were true. This might come... For a long time, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has maintained a stance that the Nintendo DS and Apple's iPhone aren't competing. A stance he seems to have let slide for a day.
